One of the few pieces I'll have prints of for the Wizard LA show. I'm still fairly new at the whole print thing, so eventually I'll build up enough of a collection and have more variation in the future.
Iron Fist is such a fun character to draw...just a visual punch to the head, with swivel arm and kung-fu grip! heh I never followed the character in the comics, but since working on inking the title now, I've been enjoying drawing sketches here and there.
Don't know if I've ever talked too much about influences, but I'm definitely swayed by the more animated style approach. Some of my favorite artists include Bruce Timm, Ben Caldwell, Mike Mignola, and Jeff Smith...just to name a few. And I always loved how Jack Kirby art always practically jumps off the page, so I'm always trying to incorporate that into pieces like this.
Did this with PITT brush pen. I'm usually mostly a Hunt 102 nib guy, but the brush pens are a lot of fun when I know I'm inking myself.
And once again, Dustin came thru and made my stiff art really sing on the page.
hey i really like the style you draw in. full of motion and energy. also a fan of the colors. does dustin have a website? he should color his own stuff
The last project he worked on, Manifest Eternity, he did practically everything on... pencils, digital ink, and colors. I think he enjoys it on special projects, but it's a longer process for him to do, so he's happy having some of us involved on the inks and colors on this current mainstream project.
But yeah, I think he does a great job on colors. He colors all of his card art (DC Vs. cards) and other side projects/concept art.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
