Legynd Sketches

Ah yes...Legynd. I think every artist has a project that is sort of a personal one. One that is toiled over, thought of, written about, frustrated with, put on the shelf, and then taken off that shelf from time to time...to dust off and have another go at. This is that type of creation for me.

Legynd sort of combines my love for the fantasy things I grew up enjoying....Dragon's Lair, Sleeping Beauty, Dungeons & Dragons...as well as more recent things like Bone, Battle Chasers, and Braveheart. And it has all the usual elements of dragons, fairies, elves, trolls, swords and sorcery.

I'm still trying to get the right "look" for it. Still trying to get confident enough in my pencils to come up with some finalized designs. And this was another shot at seeing what I could bring to it most recently. And even though I work with ink most of the time....I really enjoy working with animation blue pencil whenever I'm doing sketching. There's something very nice about being as loose and wild with it in pencil before the finality of the black ink line comes along.
